Cover design for one of the first issues of a Samurai comic I've been writing/illustrating, in the original white backdrop and an acid wash variant.

Going into doing this cover, I knew I wanted to incoporate the clan mon I designed to represent the primary fictional clan featured in the comic's story.

I worked the clan mon (or emblem) into a grungy backdrop I created from some scans I made of worn, distressed sheets of paper.

Then I layered my illustration over it, played with the colors and layering effects to come up with this - the final cover art...

...and it's "acid wash" variant.
